Sensory support

If you experience any form of sensory loss then there are a number of options for you to get advice information and support.

You can contact your registered GP who can refer to you to an eye or hearing specialist who can determine

  • the significance of your problems
  • point you in the direction of gaining a greater understanding of your situation
  • support you to register as blind, partial sighted or deaf.

If you have a visual impairment, are experiencing sight loss or you are registered deaf and live in Hull you may be able to access a range of different services to help you manage day to day.

If you would like to speak with a member of the local sensory team to explore what options are available to you, you can contact them by emailing sensory.team@hullcc.gov.uk

Alternativley you can telephone 01482 300 300 and ask for the sensory team

If you would lke to register as disabled go to the Hull City Council Website here

There are also a number of local and national groups and organisations that aim to support people and their carer’s with the impact of sensory impairment.

Don’t forget that If you require an interpreter to meet your hearing needs, or documentation to be provided in a format that you can access, you can contact the provider of that service (for example your hospital, GP, Department for Work and Pensions)
