Youth Centres

Youth provide young people aged 10 to 24 with a wide range of fun, educational and challenging things to do and places to go, in the local community.

Things to do include -

  • activities of your choice such as football, music, cooking to name but a few
  • providing a safe and chilled out environment for young people to meet friends and make new ones
  • volunteering and helping others
  • learning new skills
  • accredited youth work schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, youth arts award

Kingston Youth Centre

Kingston Youth Centre houses a variety of facilities such as a kitchen, sports hall, art room, music studio, outdoor garden area and social areas that can be used for group work and one to one. Youth workers work with young people aged 10 – 24 years, focussing on 11 – 18 age range.

The programme offers a wide range of opportunities for young people that encourage personal and social development, through trying new activities and meeting others. Targeted focussed group work and one to one sessions, work with young people to identify issues and explore solutions, building resilience and self confidence.

There are also sessions that are purely focussed around young people with identified disabilities and additional needs.

Big Buzz

Big Buzz is a mixed ability group for young people aged 16 to 24 years and is held once a week at the Kingston Youth Centre. This is an open access sessions with different activities including sport and arts. Tuesdays 7-9pm.

A referral form needs completing to access this group. Contact the Youth Development servic in the first instance on 01482 331 238

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The award helps young people to learn new skills, enjoy experiences and activities. There are three levels to the award and the level choice is up to the individual to decide. The award is open to young people aged 14 to 24 years.
